Open Data

User Defined Operating Picture

A User Defined Operating Picture (UDOP) is the availability of relevant operational data across various systems, geographically distributed, in or outside the operation, scene of disaster or area of interest.

The reality is that the in-field component of an operation has different data needs from command and each command has different data needs. There is a need for real-time, on-demand reports and briefs with maps based on common operational datasets.

Anticipating the exact requirements for these needs is difficult at best. Common operational datasets should be made available Real-time data must be available on-demand, in a format appropriate for the need at the moment.

National/state/county operations all have different needs of the same data. Inside each of these operations different groups(logistics, planning etc.) all need to visualize data from a different perspective. Thus the Lightweight UDOP (UDOP) approach.
