Reserve and National Guard Annual Training Used To Supplement Border Security

Every National Guard and Reserve unit conducts a two week training annually. The entire unit may not train at the same time. Often the unit trains on a staggered basis. An annual training conducted at the US-Mexico border would provide valuable experience for reserve and guard units, working with different DHS agencies. Patrolling, surveillance , on hands technical experience, communications, and other vital skills could be learned and advanced for both the military and DHS agencies. The money is already allocated for the annual training. New procedures could evolve from the military and DHS partnership. This could be considered a training exercise and not a military activation.
