Border Security

Perfect Border Surveillance Aircraft

In 1967 the Federal Government purchased hundreds of twin engine bulletproof observation aircraft from Cessna and used them for years in Vietnam. These high wing aircraft used two in-line engines (front and back) providing unparalleled visibility and could operate at both low and high speeds allowing them to quickly transition to an area and loiter over the target for hours. If the government still has any of these aircraft, they could be used effectively on the border observation function by Civil Air Patrol volunteers. These aircraft were equipped with the best military and civil avionics and were very easy to fly as well as to land on unimproved roads and air strips.
