IDEA: Given the current threat environment, perhaps DHS/USSS should create a new “PS-Prep” type program for Schools, to enhance their safety practices.
RECALL: In the past Congress through the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), has directed the creation of the “PS-Prep” program which enables business safety practices to be enhanced.

IS IT TIME FOR DHS TO CREATE A “PS-PREP” TYPE PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS?
MANY DHS-FEMA INFORMATION AND EDUCATION PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT THE CREATION OF SUCH A PROGRAM:
=>EXAMPLE: (DHS 2012 relevant product)
“Primer to Design Safe School Projects in Case of Terrorist Attacks and School Shootings”
WILL SCHOOLS ACTUALLY USE THIS GREAT INFORMATION OR PARTICIPATE???
=>The issue is "ripe" - everyone seems to be primed and ready to receive new safety support, and DHS/FEMA have plenty of information products to deliver!
=>My Opinion is that LEPC needs to come in and introduce fantastic information products like this one (given above) to e.g. the School Superintendent, school resource officers, police, and perhaps other stakeholders, and evaluate the introduction of a PS-Prep type program.
Wish-list - until then, I (personally) would like to immediately see all schools receive one police officer, and in the future, a small police sub-station at schools.
